Dr. Sam Elder
Veterinary care is expensive. We get that. Never before have there been so many new technologies, procedures, and products available for pet owners. Never before have the expectations of veterinarians been so high. This is as it should be. We want the best for our pets. Our goal as your veterinarian is to offer the highest value possible for each dollar spent not to be the lowest cost provider of services. Still, there are things that can be done to help with that invoice! Below are our top suggestions for maximizing the value of each visit:
- Outside pharmacy use: we cannot compete with the pricing of big box stores, online pharmacies, or large pharmacy chains. We maintain an in-house pharmacy for those clients who prefer the convenience of getting medication while in the clinic with their pets or picking up medication at our office rather than in a pharmacy or in the mail. Many times, though, we can either order a medication through an online pharmacy or script it to an outside pharmacy for significant savings.
- Try our wellness bundles. Adding one of our wellness bundles dramatically increases the value of each visit. We have negotiated special contracts with our reference laboratories that allow us to offer certain bundles of diagnostics at lower cost if done together. We are happy to extend these savings to our clients!
- Financing: for more expensive procedures or wellness visits financing through Care Credit or Scratchpay can help divide costs. In the case of Care Credit, our clinic pays the financing costs for the client in the form of merchant fees. We are happy to do this if it helps owners afford care!
- Schedule a dental procedure for your pet (if recommended) within 1 month of their wellness visit. We offer $100 off the procedural cost for dental procedures scheduled in this way as a way to help owners plan for dental care.
